The Rana-Rawat-Handa panel won all the 9 posts with huge margins in the annual elections of the Chandigarh Press Club. Polling began on Sunday moring at 8 AM while the results started coming by 7 PM. Jaswant Rana, Dainik Tribune won the President post by a margin of 144 votes. Saurabh Duggal, Hindustan Times won the Sr. Vice President post by 83 votes. Monica Sharma, Hindustan Times (167 margin) and Rajinder Nagarkoti, The Tribune won the posts of Vice President.

Barinder Singh Rawat, Dainik Bhaskar (Secretary General) won with a margin of 61 votes. Sanjay Malhotra, PTC News (Secretary) won with a margin of 52 votes, K S Rana, Punjab Kesri (Joint Secretary) won with by votes, while the other Joint Secretary - Neha Sharma, Times of India won by a huge margin of 130 votes.

The post of Treasurer is won by Ramesh Handa, Punjab Kesari. He got 43 votes more than the rival candidate of the Tarlochan-Akash-Mahajan Panel.

Panel wise margins were recorded as 143 votes for Rana-Rawat panel and 79 votes for Tarlochan-Akash panel.

The victory was followed by a lavish dinner party at the club premises.

The prestigious Chandigarh Press Club has been buzzing with the annual election activities. The voting is scheduled for Sunday, 26th March, 2017. Two pannels of candidates are in the fray for the next general body of the club. The existing President of the club, Jaswant Rana (Dainik Tribune) and General Secretary, Barinder Rawat are again contesting for the same posts under the Rana-Rawat-Handa panel.

Other contestants from this panel include Saurabh Duggal (Hindustan Times) for Senior Vice-President, Rajinder Nagarkoti (The Tribune) for Vice-President, Monica Sharma (Hindustan Times) for Vice-President (woman), Karnail Singh Rana (Punjab Kesari) for Joint Secreatary-1, Neha Sharma (Times of India) for Joint Secretary-2, Sanjay Malhotra (PTC News) for Secretary and Ramesh Handa (Punjab Kesari) for Treasurer.

The opponent Tarlochan-Akash panel has following contestants: Tarlochan Singh (Punjabi Tribune) for President, Nalin Acharya (Him Prabha) Senior Vice-President, Ruby Singh (Aaj Samaj) Vice-President-1, Amar Nath (Dainik Tribune) Vice-President-2, Akash Ghai (The Tribune) Secretary General, Jagtar Bhullar (Zee Media) Secretary, Archana Sethi (Dainik Bhaskar) Joint Secretary-1, Sanjay Kurl (Punjab Kesari) Joint Secretary-2 and Sanjeev Mahajan (Dainik Bhaskar) for the post of Treasurer.

The voting process will start at 8 AM on Sunday, 26th March and will close at 5 PM. The results will be announced in the evening.

The existing president Jaswant Rana said, "Chandigarh Press Club is the only club in the city whose lease money issue has been settled with no arrears whatsoever. The case was pending with the High Court for past 6 years. The Rana-Rawat panel will ensure that the burden of lease money doesn't fall on the members. The club has made remarkable improvement in the revenue during the past one year."

A get-together of the regular members of the club has been planned by both the panels in the evening today. The dinner parties will be held at the club premises.
