The valedictory function of ‘Sanrkashan Kshamta Mahotsav - Saksham 2018’, which continued for one month and spread awareness regarding need for judicious use of non-renewable resources was held in Chandigarh on Friday.

Mr K A P Sinha (IAS), Principal Secretary, Food, Civil supplies & Consumer affairs, Punjab was the chief guest, while Mr Ajoy Kumar Sinha (IAS), Secretary, Finance, Institutional Finance & Banking, UT Chandigarh was the guest of honor. 

Mr Sandeep Jain, State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry, Punjab and Chief General Manager (in-charge) Indian Oil Corporation (Punjab, J&K, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh), stressed the need to conserve petroleum products in order to save not only money and fuel but above all, environment. He also expressed his concern for the economic burden on the country arising due to continuous import of petroleum products.

Mr Sinha raised serious concern about the vulnerability of our economy to high and volatile prices of petroleum products, therefore, he opined that sincere efforts need to be taken into consideration to have a long term impact through conservation activities. 

It is noteworthy that during the Saksham 2018 campaign, more than 13,000 activities of more than 18 types were carried out in the length and breadth of Punjab reaching more than 10 lakh people directly. The entire oil industry mobilized all its resources to spread the message of Oil and Gas Conservation during 16 January to 15 February, 2018.
