Crazy Town in Sector 7, a kids friendly party destination, held ‘Celebration beyond expectation' event with the underprivileged school children. The event witnessed over 10 underprivileged school children getting an opportunity to celebrate at Crazy Town, where generally only kids from privileged segments get a chance to enjoy.

As a symbolic gesture to celebrate the school kids birthdays, a cake was cut by the children, who came from areas like Dadumajra, Jagatpura etc which are considered to be underdeveloped. The cake cutting was done in the presence of Devesh Moudgil, Mayor of Chandigarh, Heera Negi, Councillor, Chandigarh and Shalini Goel, Social Activist and MD, Crazy Town.

Shalini Goel, MD, Crazy Town, said, “This was an effort to bring a smile on the faces of children from the underprivileged section. Though most of these kids are going to school, they have never had a celebration at a place like Crazy Town. Through this event, I wanted to drive home the point that these kids are also part and parcel of our society and have rights & opportunities equal to children from financially strong backgrounds.”

For the children the event held a lot of excitement and frolic. The cake cutting ceremony was the main attraction for them. All the kids had a great time playing various fun and mystery games like puzzles and hurdles. Stationery comprising study boards, colors, pencils, erasers, scales etc. were also distributed among the children.

Mohit, a student of class 5 said, “This was the first time I celebrated my birthday in such a nice place and I enjoyed a lot." Another different aspect of the event saw that the underprivileged children played wholeheartedly with the privileged children, which removed the perceived gap between the children.

The event also witnessed participation by some special guests. Over 20 socially concerned ladies from tricity were also present. The idea was to involve them to help the needy children. Most of the women promised to help the children in different ways. Particular children were adopted by them for provision of important items required in their education and to help them financially. The ladies will be actively involved in improving the life of children from less privileged sections.

In order to throw some light on the aspect of health of women and kids, Priyanka, tricity dietician, conducted a session. Totally dedicated towards providing some moments of enjoyment and togetherness to children from underprivileged  sections of society, the function proved to be a hub of fun for these kids.
